I’m a guitarist from Warren, Ohio. I also play bass, drums, and keys, write songs, and record and produce — my own music and other people’s. I’ve been at it since the early ’80s, and it’s taken me from 80s/90s rock to nu metal to the solo music I’m putting out now.
My first real band. We started The Rain in 1983, with me writing songs and playing lead guitar. Jim Housteau joined in 1989 and shared vocals with me, and in 1993 we released Gasoline Rainbows — my first official release.
In 1999 I joined Funny, a nu metal band out of Cleveland, on lead guitar. People compared us to Korn and Pantera — lots of off-time rhythms and heavy, percussive riffs. Our self-titled EP came out in May 1999, sold out in under six months, and there are now more than 5,000 copies out there. That led to opening for bands like A Perfect Circle, Soulfly, Lamb of God, Chevelle, and GWAR. We released the full-length One Sick Year in 2002, and in 2016 I got back together with our original singer to record “Unbroken” as Funny.
I also record and produce other artists, including Grey Larry, Dreadnaught, and a number of solo artists. My studio is a mix of analog and digital, built around an old 32-channel Peavey Production Series 1600 console. I like what the analog side adds, and I use modern tools where they make sense.
These days I’m writing and releasing more than ever. Over the past year I’ve put out a lot of new music under my own name, including the EP Slipping Away (April 2026) and singles like “Petrified” (featuring Jaykob Matteo) and “Diamond.” Some of it’s heavy and riff-driven, and some of it’s quieter singer-songwriter material.
Before that came Walk Away, songs I wrote from the early ’90s on. I recorded it on a Teac 38 through a Mackie 8-bus and did nearly everything myself — playing, recording, mixing, and mastering. It’s available as a limited run of 100 hand-signed CDs. I’ve been writing and recording on my own since the mid-’80s, but most of that never got released; the earliest solo track that’s out there is “The Fire and The Bell” from 2011.
